About 30 years ago she ventured out into the unknown when she made the decision to come to Ghana to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus and His Kingdom so that many will come to know and experience a relationship with Jesus Christ who had transformed her life.

Making such a decision was not easy as some may be tempted to think because there were challenges to overcome such as having to leave family, friends, security and comfort to live in an entirely new culture.

As if that was not enough, Ghana had a well documented history of political unrest and little did she know that one such unrest will welcome her not too long after she had arrived in Ghana in 1979.

In the words of Gary Thomas, “There will be a time in our Christian journeys when like Jacob, we will wrestle with God all night long……But there must eventually come a dawn when we say, “OK God, You win……..Not my will but Thine be done”.

In spite of all the genuine concerns she may have had or that may have been expressed by loved ones, L. Dunn obeyed God’s will for her life to be in Ghana as a missionary.

Her example of surrendering to God’s will in order to see the Gospel advanced reminds us of missionaries of old such as David Livingstone who went on the same path and prayed, “Lord send me anywhere, only go with me; lay any burden on me, only sustain me; and sever every tie, but the tie that binds me to Thy service and Thy heart”.

She has lived in Ghana since and served the Lord faithfully, making disciples and teaching others to make disciples for Jesus Christ.
